What to bring?
1. Unexpired Passport.
Check your passport or still valid for the next 6 months.
2. Money
We recommend Credit Card payments. Holland hardly accepts Discovery and American Express. MasterCard and Visa are your best bet. In the City they accept electronic payment, but in the smaller town they don't. But with your debit card you can hit the ATM for Euros. This is the cheapest way to get cash (better than buying euros from your US bank). At the airport you can also switch dollars for euros.
3. Electricity adapter
Outlets in Holland are 220 volts. So your US piece won't fit in the Dutch outlets! We recommend buying an adapter on amazon or any other electronic store. 220 outlet with US plug in.
4. Don't bring a hair dryer!
We will have a few hair dryers available at the hotel! Because of the voltage difference, hairdryers tend to break when using them in the Netherlands.
5. Adjust your Phone plan
We advise you to contact your cell phone provider for an international plan. We know AT&T and Verizon have an international plan for unlimited minutes and data for around $15 extra a day. Without a plan it can get really expensive!, Our facilities have free WIFI! You can also use an app called WhatsApp for free world wide text messaging and calling, if both phones have the app installed to their phone.
6. Towels
Our accommodations will have linens (and pillow and blanket), but most facilities will NOT have towels (only the IJSVOGEL facility provides each guest two towels). Please bring your own!
7. Contact info
For families staying behind in the US, you can call our tour operation Frencis 24/7 in case of emergency or you just can't get a hold of your child. From the US its +31649201664
8. Laundry
We will have access to a laundry facility, for the smelly soccer uniforms. We will do this several times during the stay.
9. Health insurance
All travelers have your health insurance card on you.
10. Soccer Clothing & equipment to bring for the players
- Your complete Dutch Soccer School UNIFORM sets (sent from soccer.com)
-Towels!
- Body wash/ shampoo
- Cleats (for grass and wet turf fields, but most/all games will be on turf - so turf shoes, if you have them - could be useful)
- Training pants
- Extra pairs of soccer socks and shorts for training
- Shin guards
- Soccer bag (don't need to bring a ball - DSS will provide)
- Flip-flops
- Rain jacket
- Water bottle
- Bug spray!!
- Sunblock
- Beach attire (possible beach visit)
11. Biking to the fields
We have bikes rented for everyone - The bikes do not come with helmets (it's not common in Holland). We recommend bringing your own if you prefer to use one.
12. Hint for Jet lag We advise to not sleep too much during the day :). A short nap should do it.
13. Weather The average daily temperatures in the Netherlands in June range from (59°F) to 72°F, making it quite comfortable for outdoor activities. However, it is advisable to carry a light jacket.
Safe travels! For those traveling separately from the group, we will see you in Holland at the Schiphol Airport or at the Farmhouse.
